I thought I would bring you up to date on the latest efforts to improve our site. Our programmer is busy right now trying to fix some other sites (not us thank God) on our server which were hit by that darn hacker, but soon as he finishes fixing the mess he will start on these.
1. We're adding a ''how did you find us'' to our sign up page. There will be several choices. This info will help up in trying to attract new members by showing us where to concentrate our efforts. More members = more stuff on the site.
2. Also, for the prospective member we're going to add a ''Tour our Site'' link on the home page. Someone who is thinking about joining will be able to get a peek at what the site is like in the member's area.
3. It seems that very few members ever see the What's New column.... probably because they don't visit the home page. Sometimes there is something important I want everyone to know, so we're going to create a button that will link to the What's New. When you log-in this button will start appearing on just about every page you visit and it will blink off and on. Annoying, right? All you have to do is click it to see the message and after that it will disappear... until there is a new massage. I feel that it's important you all know what's happening here. After all, it's your site as much as mine.
4. We put the Featured Seller's banners on all the catagory pages. Next we're going to put them at the bottom of all the Gallery pages. Should be good promotion for all you Featured Sellers.
5. A few members use HTML code to post their ads. Because of the hacker attack a while back we instituted some security measures which caused problems using HTML. We think we have solved those problems, but we're still looking at it to make sure everything is ok. It really would be best if you used our form for listing items.
6. And speaking of listing items. I've asked the programmer to try and set it up so that when you post an ad or auction you will be able to load all your pictures at once, instead of one at a time. Also, I want him to eliminate that annoying little status window that pops up. It really serves no purpose. And after loading a pic I want the upload page to stay put, right now it pops to the top of the page which means you have to scroll down for loading the next pic. All these little changes should make doing ads and lot quicker.
7. I think we'll go ahead and set it up so you can put one picture with your wanted ads too.
Can't think of anything else we have going right now. Give us some time on these projects, they don't happen over night. If you have an idea of something you think would improve our site I would like to hear about it. I can't guarantee we can do it but be assured we will give it a good think.
Good collecting. |
