In the previous post a couple of days ago, I told you about some of the things I wanted to do to improve our site. We have got one done, hopefully another this evening... Features Sellers banners are now in the Gallery, and we're working on others. There was one thing I mentioned that just isn't going to happen. I thought it would be nice if a member posting an ad or auction could upload ALL his pictures at once. Well, it turns out that this is not really possible. Actually, anything is possible with computers if you throw enough money at it.... What I mean is that it would take a major redo of our entire program and cost thousands to do. Sorry, I tried. At least it shows I'm thinking.
Sometimes I look at our forum and think I should just shut down all of it except for this What's New and the Speaker's Corner. For some reason you guys just are not using the other areas much. Don't ask me, I don't understand it. It reminds me of the story of Little Mute Johnny. Johnny was 8 years old and had never uttered a word in his life. One day at breakfast he all of a sudden yells out, ''Damn, this milk has gone sour.'' Needless to say his parent were shocked and asked him why, for all these years he had never said anthing? He look at them and said, ''Up till now everythings been ok.'' It can't be that most of you are like Little Mute Johnny, that everything has been ok up till now. Surely you have ''something'' to say. I don't know.... maybe things are that good on our site and you just don't have any complaints???
Several times I heard people complain that we don't have a ''feedback'' system on our site. Actually, we do, it's right here on the forum. In order to give it better exposure I moved it up on the list of forums as well as it's sister forum the ''Fakes and Frauds''. Hopefully more members will see it and use it. Keep in mind it's not only for cases where you have a complaint, it's also for you to tell others if something went good. You can post things any way you want, but if I could make a suggestion, when you're posting about another member, put that member's name in the subject line. And on the same subject, a few well meaning members have suggested we have a feedback system like ebay. I appreciate they're wanting to help. but I'm afraid they haven't thought this idea through. With ebay every sale goes throught their system and only the actually buyer can post feedback. With our system... not just auctions.... but mainly classified ads, we don't have any way to tell who buys what. So, an ebay type system just won't work. I think our feedback forum should do nicely, especially considering how few problems our members seem to have with each other.
Finally, I noticed another member changed his avatar so I figured, why not? No, it's just a characterture, I don't look ''exactly'' like that..... |
