Hello all, just wanted to chime in here and say that I pointed an item ou to Bob about it being a questionable item and he responded quickly and although he himself didnt know about the item he got an answer from someone who knew about this kind of militaria. He e-mailed me daily until the issue was resolved,,,althought the item wasnt proved to be an outright fake,,it was questionable,,and the item remained,,but the important thing is Bob stayed on it and got me my answers,,,thank you Bob,,,and I enjoy this site alot!

sure, the item in question was KM helmet item #F5634,,,the decal looks bogus to me and the fellas at german helmet walhala shot it down as well saying its a nasty known repro decal,,,Bobs helmet guy said it raised more questions than answers,,,so I will steer clear,,just my two cents here as I am definitely not a know it all.

Any collector who goes to resell an item might get a negative consensus about a few of his pieces.

As I have stated elsewhere on this forum, I myself got royally hosed on a bunch of items. This, before I was well informed and experienced enough, to make solid reliable collecting decisions.

I hope that the discovery that a piece might not be kosher, does not deter people from staying in the hobby, There is good stuff out there and it is up to each of us to buy smart.

I also hope guys aren't crucified for errors made in the past which only recently come to light. Nobody is perfect or all knowing.

That seller has some nice items too. Specifically the Thompson Magazine pouch. It is mint and conforms perfectly including the markings , to an original I have had for 35 years. I do not know if the price is fair, but at least I know it is legit.

I have asked for better pics of the SS Cap set he has listed with VERY BLURRY pics. I buy those, but I cannot tell what he has from those pics, So no transaction.

No animosity, no insults or name calling,...and no cash going his way, until I can see what I would be spending my dough on.

Hi 101world,

Be careful with those guys on the German Helmet Walhalla. They morphed off the Wehrmacht Awards website and tend to shoot from the hip and offer unsubstantiated opinions about helmets that often clash with the conclusions of more experienced collectors and reference authors. "Nasty well known fake" is no substitute for detalled analysis and facts that confirm what they are saying. I'm not arguing their KM analysis was off the mark, as I know little to nothing about KM helmets . . . . but I'd put more stock in Bob's helmet guy than those individuals. Just a thought!

Best regards,
Bill Bradley
