I got a call from a member this morning, and as we were chatting he made a remark, ''You sure do go into a lot of detail explaining what's doing on your site.'' He's right about that.

Most web sites, especially if they are very successful, don't bother to keep people informed as to what's happening behind the scenes, and they really hate to admit that there are any faults with their site. They usually don't want to handle anyone's problems on a personal level. Just try to get some ''personal'' service out of ebay for example. Generally they have the attitude that the individual member is not important and they won't use their resources to help them. If a member has a problem and can't figure it out using their ''help'' section, too bad. They really don't care if they loose that member or not, there are thousands of others still using the site. One member is just a ''throw-a-way'' as far as they are concerned. I don't have that attitude for two reasons. First, we're not so big we can afford throw-a-ways. And second, it's just not right.

I do go into a lot of detail explaining what's going on here because I think you should know. As I've said before; it's your site as much as mine. Without you, the members, the site would not exist. If it's good or bad, I let you know. And as to members having problems, it happens all the time. I get emails (not many) just about every day from someone who can't make something work or can't figure something out. I answer each and every one! And, I'm happy to say, 99% of the time I'm able to solve their problem right then.

Usually the problems members have are caused by simple user error.... Not filling in all the fields when they try to sign-up. Typing in an invalid credit card number or paypal number, expired credit card or address that doesn't match the card companys records, Using an invalid user name or password (minimum of 8 letters and numbers and no other characters). Their computer not refreshing the pages correctly etc. etc.... And the biggie, not reading things before they try to do something.

Occasionally we do find the problem is at our end, we're not perfect, like when that hacker got into our server and screwed everything up. When we're the cause of the problem we go to work and straighten it out ASAP. Fortunately, we now have the program working perfectly and we have institued some security measures to keep the hackers out. By the way, he didn't just hit us, he screwed with a bunch of web sites on the same server, and I see that he occasionally trys to still get in... with no luck. Our system is now protected to the hilt!

I've put everything I have into making this a great site and I do take it all very personally. Afterall, it's ''my baby''. So, if you feel I can get long winded about what's going on maybe you'll understand why.

If you would like to help build our site, the best thing you could do is recommend it to your fellow collectors. Just imagine how much more there would be for sale if each of you got just one collector friend to use it.

Thanks for your support, Bob
