We STILL have a problem.

This is the 4th day we've had a server problem and I thought I would bring everyone up to date on what's happening.

In a nutshell, someone hacked our server. This attack was not aimed at our site specifically, but at the server hosting our site. It has affected about 250 websites of all kinds.

Be assured the tech people are working very hard to get everything fixed ASAP, and actually they have got some things fixed on our site. I see that today the auction posting function is working again. You can log-in, browse and answer ads, just can't post one right now. They will get everything fixed, it's going to take some time. Right now the for sale ad and wanted ad posting functions are not working. And I can't get into the members accounts in my administration section.... To bad about that because it see some phony stuff that was posted right before this problem started that I would like to remove, but can't. Very frustrating!

Ok, why does someone do this to a server? Answer: because he can. There are some malicious nurds our there with nothing better to do than screw with people. Whoever hacked in probably doesn't even know, or care about, the sites he disrupted. He just gets his kicks by proving to himself he can cause damage and get away with it.

How do we stop this from happening again? We don't. We have very good security measures on our site and so does the server, but the fact is that if a hacker is smart enough and determined enough, he will find a way. This type thing has happened to sites like ebay and amazon and it will happen again. It's just something we all have to live with... unfortunately.

All I can suggest is that you check back every day. It shouldn't be much longer and we'll be up and running properly again.
