I hope that isn't what I've created. Because I had so many request for it, I've added a ''Feedback'' function to our web site. Any time you open an ad or auction listing you will see a place to post and read feedback on the person running it. Maybe this will let the members ''police'' the site and take some of the pressure off me. And maybe this will discourage some fake peddlers from even trying to use the site. (Oh, please let it be so!)
My hope is that this will be used in a mostly positive way. I would love to see a bunch of feedbacks where guys tell each other what a great experience it was to deal with someone on our site. But let's get real, this is ''Nazi'' collecting and we all know there are ''issues''. If you feel you've been wronged, use the feedback to tell everyone. It you had a great transaction, post that too.
I can see how setting up this feedback system could really open a bucket of worms for the site. I am determined to keep things under control and most of all ''fair'' to all concerned.
Unlike Ebay, where only the buyer can post feedback about the item he bought, and the seller answer, with our system any member can post feedback about any other member at any time... as long as he can find an ad/auction by that person to access the feedback system. I'm still trying to figure out if this is good or bad?! But unlike Ebay (and the forums), the people posting won't be able to ''hide'' behind a user name. Having your name appear and assuming responsibility for what you post should help keep things honest. I'm sure it will also reduce the ''number'' of posts considerably... Ten reasonable postings are better that a hundred goofy ones.
Here are some rules for the feedback, and I would like to hear from any of you who can think of something I've forgotten. I'm afraid the rules are mostly ''do nots''.
Do not use the feedback for: Slandering, badmouthing, berating, cursing, furthering vendettas, and generally going on a Hitler style tantrum about someone or something.
Only address issues related to our site. If someone offended you 20 years ago, this is not the place to ''get even''.
Keep the posting concise, factual and to the point. If you're posting something negative you should back it up with facts and not insults.
I think that's enough for now. I just turned loose ''the beast'', so now we'll see what happens... I'll make any changes according to how things go.
And, by the way, I'll be playing the roll of ''moderator'', seeing every single feedback, who wrote it and who it's about, and will keep track of the good guys... and the bad guys. If someone get's too much negative feedback they're outta here!
Now would be a good time to start using this feature. Why not take a few minutes; look up an ad by someone you've delt with and post something positive about them. If you've bought from a ''Featured Seller'', it is especially easy to find one of their ads. Give them a good plug, you will be doing your fellow members a favor when they're considering dealing with them.
I spent quite some time, thought (and a few bucks), to create this system so I hope everyone will make good use of it. How, go to it!
