something seems very wrong about this ring

Howdy Folks,

I am not saying that this thing is a fake. I do not collect jewelry, but something seems very wrong to me. Item #: F12106 SS TOTENKOPF HONOR RING VOGT 30.6.34

The lightly engraved inscription inside, where the finger is always rubbing, is intact. This doesn't jive with the outside surface wear. Exterior detail over the entire band is many times more metal and is evenly and completely gone, even on the bottom opposite the skull. Despite all this wear, there seem to be no scratches, dents, or damage. Of course it is hard to see much about this $5000.00 ring from the out of focus pictures.

It does have a brand new looking ring case with it, but no photograph showing the Don Boyle document blessing of it as being an original. That is important on a $5000.00 half worn away ring, when there are hundreds of fake skull rings. The strangest thing is I have a memory of seeing that same name inscription on another ring about twenty years ago. I could be wrong, it has been a long while.
