I have to share this. I was surfing around and found a site called thirdreich.ca They are sellers of 'museum quality reproductions'. For all you new collectors that's a fancy term for high priced fakes. At the bottom of their menu they offer an 'Authentication and Certification' service which, it seems, is just the opinion of some guy called Don Boyle who they describe as the 'world's leading authority' etc. What I would like someone to explain to me is this. If this guy is such an expert and is going to tell you if your militaria is good or not, why has he hitched his wagon to a site that is selling fake krap? The whole thing stinks like yesterdays diapers!

The name rings a bell but i can`t recall from where but definately a known in the hobby. you are right it does seem odd to say the least. I have not looked at the site yet. I will out of interest. there are an awful lot of things that ``stink`` in the collecting circle.

Just had a peek and the “POST WAR ORIGINAL” SS VISOR CAP INSIGNIA SET says it all for me! Laughing

Don Boyle is the auther of a book on SS Honor Rings. He is the leading authority on SS Honor Rings. The only connection he has to the fake SS Honor Ring is that he saw it at the Max show and claimed that it was the best fake he has seen. He is not part of the outfit that is selling fakes. JPK

Don is also an acknowledged expert on Gestapo and other warrant discs and if memory serves has penned a reference book on them.

I stand corrected. The warrant disc expert is in fact Don Bible. Thanks for pointing that out!
