There is so much drama about replicas in the area of 3rd Reich collectibles. I was just at another big militaria convention. There were numerous people there with varying percentages of original as well as totally replica items.

This included US Items like DI Pins and squadron patches. Many US 'WW2' Patches were there that were made recently. I heard NOBODY bitching about any dealer. I saw no dealers confronted for selling replicas. I also did NOT get taken advantage of or cheated.

Why? Well two main reasons. First I know my stuff pretty well and resist buying things I do not know about.
Second, most of the dealers will look you in the eye and tell you the truth.

I actually bother to ask them if an item is guaranteed to be original issue of the era indicated. They are not mindreaders! For all they know you might just want a cheap patch from the unit your dad served in during WW2. So it is up to ypu to be proactive in buying through a sound method and not assume anything about an item.

I saw several 3rd Reich sellers who had mixed original and replica and 3 of those were NOT identifying the replicas. I saw 2 who had almost nothing except Nazi replicas and were definitely not letting anyone in on their 'secret'.

We need to finally acknowledge that they do exist and stop trying to 'Solve' the problem. Replicas exist in every area of endeavor. From fake airplane spare parts to Fake Rolex Watches.

There are poorly made products coming to light everyday and causing governments to quarrel over not only the possibly deadly qualities, but trade mark infringement and patent abuse!

And we think WE have a serious issue to deal with.

Here are a very few sites on the web that openly deal in replicas.
Do they have the right to make and sell this stuff? It seems so.
Is there a legitimate use for it? It seems so.
Will a lot of it be resold by being misrepresented? It seems so.
What are you prepared to combat all of this?

My advice is to vote with your wallet. Simply know what you want to buy and don't buy things you do not know about.

If I had always done that I would not have had the losses I had and not made the mistakes I made.

Still if you want inexpensive pretty colorful nazi style things, You may not find them on this website though the links below are chock full of them!
