Our web site has only been up for seven months and I can hardly believe how great we are doing! It's because of all of you who have supported us by joining and using the site.

Here is something you might find interesting. http://alexa.com/ is a company that tracks the traffic of every site on the net and rates them accordingly. The lower the number the more traffic they are getting as you can see from the rankings of google and ebay (no surprise there). I checked out some other militaria sites to see how we were doing in comparison. Here's the result...

Traffic Rank for google.com: 3

Traffic Rank for ebay.com: 21

Traffic Rank for wehrmacht-awards.com: 126,294

Traffic Rank for therupturedduck.com: 804,594

Traffic Rank for germanmilitariacollectibles.com: 954,980

Traffic Rank for manions.com: 1,020,2575

Traffic Rank for johnsonreferencebooks.com: 1,439,145

Traffic Rank for ww2germanmilitaria.com: 2,051,621

Traffic Rank for internationalmilitaria.com: 2,066,784

Traffic Rank for mickeyhughesmilitaria.com: 2,581,011

Traffic Rank for hermann-historica.com: 2,868,464

Traffic Rank for militariawebring.com: 3,086,424

Traffic Rank for blackcrossmilitaria.com: 3,935,914

Traffic Rank for grenadiermilitaryantiques.com: 4,593,074

Traffic Rank for reichauctions.com: 7,252,543

Of course, there are tons of other militaria sites I didn't look at. You can go to http://alexa.com/ and check any site you want. After you enter a site and get the info be sure to click on ''rank'' underneath the TRAFFIC GRAPH to see the interesting stuff. Please note that the results you get may vary from those I posted. The net is a very fluid thing and stats are constantly changing. Overall, they are pretty close. Enjoy!

After I posted the previous message (about our good internet ratings) last night, I figured why not spread the word. So, I want over to wehrmacht-awards forum and posted the same message and verified it was up. This afternoon I thought I would see if anyone had made any comments about it, so I went to wehrmacht-awards to take a peek. It ain't there people! Unless I'm somehow overlooking it, it's been pulled. I find this intersting, but will make no further comment..... Bob

Could this be a mindset of input being deemed competition, rather than interesting and relevant news from a colleague?

I would have thought that web traffic stats would be useful to know. When you have a website.

Perhaps there is some sort of power play, by the larger site. would that be paranoia?

It seems simple enough to me. Censorship! They didn't like it because some of the ''good ol' boys'' who had poorer ratings would be offended and they don't want to let anything out that might make their buddies look bad. Keep up the good work Bob!

The other night I was looking at wehrmacht-awards and came across a thread about germanmilitariacollectibles.com. The thread started shortly after this site had opened and these guys were whining and complaining about getting an email about it. They all were so concerned about how someone got their email address. And one even refered to the site as an 'enemy' because they sent him an email. Bob Treend, had posted a couple of things in answer to these complaints explaining how he got the addresses and saying that anyone who was not interested could ask and be taken off the list. Still, after that there was more moaning and griping and on and on.

I like this site (even thought he removed a repro I was selling once) So I thought I would say something about this. Therefore, I posted a reply saying that I was glad he had sent me an email and I was going to support the site. That was about it. No big, long promotion, just a few simple words of support.

Today I tried to log on to the forum and found I had been banned! I was shocked. What's going on? Is it ok to bitch and complain about something but if you say something nice you get the boot?

Ok, they don't want me, then I don't want them. This forum and germandaggers.com are more that good enough to keep me happy.

I am not surprised at that 'Corporate' response.

It would seem that they are an entity which wishes to exercise control in a way similar to eBay.

Just eliminate anything or anyone that is not entirely to your liking.

I see many good aspects about what that website contains. I also see aspects that are unpleasant.

There are a lot of fine individuals there, and a lot of expertise.

A place to vent about the state of the hobby.

Live and let live. If you do not like what they do, don't visit them.

It sounds to me like someone at wehrmacht-awards doesn't like this site. Why, I don't know, maybe the new forum offended them.

It would be easy to find out if they are censoring this site. If everyone here would post something on wehrmacht-awards and mention this site, we could see if they let it stay up or remove it. The results could be posted here and would be interesting. Let's do it and see what happens.

Hey, Is that what we are all about? Do we need to go and provoke somebody for 'fun' ?

If so I am in the wrong community.

What do we care if they do not allow information about this site, on their site?

They pay for their webspace, they should be free to do whatever they want.

If you do not appreciate the culture there, just stay away from them.

We do not have to admire that mindset, but I for one, think it is poorly considered when you make the suggestion to :

QUOTING RUSTY55!

I believe that sort of thing, is just as bad if not worse. You are just trying to pick a fight in the name of everyone here, and I resent that.

I hope we can be more tolerant and not worry what they do in their domain.

Didn't sound like someone wanted to pick a fight to me.

More like he wented to just see if they were censoring the forum.

I for one think the forums should be open to anyone to talk about anything.

If they are censoring something as petty as a this, then what else are they censoring?

I think the key point here is that it is THEIR SITE ! THEY CAN AND WILL CENSOR IT EXACTLY AS THEY WISH.

They Pay for the costs of their website, and operate it. If you don't like it, don't go there.

Is there something that confuses anyone here, about the concept of not sticking their nose in where it is not welcome?

Or are we so entitled, that we have some right to tell others to do and say and operate only in a manner we deem acceptable?

If my neighbor doesn't want people coming into his house and saying things he does not approve of, it is his right to show those people the door.

Everybody needs to learn that we do not control other people.

If you personally want to campaign for some partisan issue, DO NOT DO IT REPRESENTING THIS ENTIRE WEBSITE. There are many people here who may not want to be involved in controversy.

When was the last time you walked up on the front porch of the neighborhood bully's house, and told him you didn't like his face, and things at his house, had better be done the way you say, from now on?

My guess is NEVER.

So be careful when you advocate causing problems from hundreds of other collectors, because you do not like some little thing.

That other site's members, will ALL take it as a personal attack on them.

Do you like making enemies? And for what good purpose and result? We win the 'are they censoring their own forums?' lottery?

I believe it is smarter to pick the fights you wish to be involved in , than to start one every time you don't feel you are macho enough.

You think you're in 'the hood' and not getting respect or something?

Lets try and act like intelligent adults.

I don't understand what all the bad mouthing is about. I've looked at Nr1seller's pieces on this site and they all look good to me. And he gives a good guarantee. So what if he likes to write long posts. Isn't that what this forum is for? At least he's saying something.

If someone is going to bad mouth someone else they could at least give specific reasons and not just trash them for the fun of it.

That's just my opinion.

Okay guys, can we refocus on the issue we were exploring, before the subject was hijacked?

Enough already! JPic79, don't you have anything to contribute to this forum other than persecuting CW? I looked at your other posts and that's all you do.

I've been watching the forum from it's start and it could become a good one, but not if this is the direction it's going. Let's try to be civil and keep it friendly.

Wish I had time to post something else but the wife wants me go do something. Later guys, der Adler in California.
