A friend asked me why I bother to write so many long winded posts on the forum. I do it because I see a need for a place to exchange wisdom and knowledge.

I do not see it as a place to have a showdown or an argument!
See this thread at another forum and read how it descends into chaos because 2 people do not watch what they are saying to each other. They prefer instead to only incite.

If this example doesn't convince you that things are getting out of hand, nothing will!

What a waste of time and effort.

I took a look. Maybe I just don't get it. What's the problem?

In an effort to be polite I'll welcome Nemo to the forum. Hope to see some of those posts you mentioned. This forum is new and it could use some interesing input.

That thread descends into an impolite argument over phrases and interpretations. It basically becomes a pissing match with both guys asserting they are right.

The two main protagonists seem to go out of their way to antagonize each other, to the point of inviting each other to physically fight. NICE!

A good example of what we are trying to avoid here.

Is it so important to be 'right' that we must insult each other?
