Well im new to collecting so i'm wondering what is the best way to display medals and badges. I have heard of Riker's frames and bought one to try out. The soft wool type of material inside presses the medal/badge up against the glass and i dont want any scratching or etching to occur. If i were to replace the soft woll like substance what sould i use?

Also should i keep the medals/badges away from sunlight or limit light exposure?

If i have to handle any items is it safe to touch with bare hands or should i use gloves (latex?)?

Hoping to be enlightened by your knowledge!

I use a layer of wax paper between the glass and the surface of medals. That glass can wear the areas it touches in time.

Since the trays are more for storage than display it is not an issue that I cannot see them clearly. If I need to I just open the tray lid.

Oops, forgot =he other 2 questions.

I don't believe normal lighting will affect medals and badges much. Paper and cloth are another matter.

I do recommend handling relics only when your hands are clean, and cotton gloves from a pharmacy or hardware store etc. can be gotten very inexpensively.
