I propose a continuing thread of pictures and the story about the pictured great finds we have made in our searching.

I suggest it be something found way too cheap and in a strange circumstance.

I hope people will post pictures and the story of the cool experiences they have had. (Personally I will shy away from stuff I got from collectors or dealers, or shows.

I will check out the procedures for attaching pictures to the posting and do my story and pics as soon as I can.

Well I guess the truth is finally known.

Relics are obviously not often found at dirt cheap prices!

Well how about this instead... How about posting some pics of the best thing you ever got?

I can't say I have ever gotten anything dirt cheep, at the time a fair price, but after 15-30 years what seemed high has always turned out to be a very nice profit.

One example, in 1980 I had a Veteran respond to one of my adds, he said he had a few items. I paid him for the folling items, $2400.00, I was very worried that I had way overpaid, and would never get my money out!

1, DLV Knife near mint by CJK

1, SS 33 by Boker, about VG++ with hanger

1, Army helmet d/d M 35, in high EXC

1, SS Arm Band about EXC

1, Eagle order cased brest star 6 points no swords in EXC+

1, Blood Order 2nd style with ribbon abut EXC+

1, set of Army GD Panzer boards Ltc. about VG++

1, HJ Leaders dagger w/ hanger about EXC + by Hoster

1, NSKK 36 by PUMA EXC+

1, Large Navy flag about EXC

1, SS Sword with portepee and hanger and bag PMD marked all about EXC +

As well as a few odds and ends.

It worked out that I sold all of these items for a lot more than my $3000.00 investment, keep in mind that all were way over the prices of the time 1980,
I sold them all after 20 years for about $14 K, sure wish I still had them, as they now have all gone up at least 3 times and more in most cases than what I got out of them, had I held them for 28 years I really would have done well!
Just the sword that I sold for $2500.00 now sells for $10 K alone! The HJ Leaders dagger now sells for $7500.00 with hangers I got $2500.00, The SS dagger I got $1000.00 for they now sell for $4500.00 and as high as $6000.00 from some dealers!!

I sold the Army d/d M 35 for $800.00 - the last one I saw that was even close sold for $4000.00.. Whats an eagle order cased selling for now $6000.00, I got $1500.00 in 2000..

You live and you learn...
